A belated post on our Valentine’s dinner. I decided to do a little surf n’ turf, but geared towards our tastes, paying homage to some of our favorite meals ever.
The “surf” is some Hawaiian-style garlic shrimp (inspired by Giovanni’s shrimp truck on the North Shore of O’ahu), which mainly consists of roasted garlic and butter. The “turf” is a pan-seared eye of round (an illusion that it’s healthier since it’s a leaner, small cut of beef), with shallots sauteed in butter, inspired by Bouchon’s steak frites. Served with roasted asparagus to convince ourselves our meal is well-balanced.
Oof, I feel like Paula Deen… “I just LOVE butter, y’all.”
