The Autumn-Mattician

I came up with this cocktail for the Automattic Grand Meetup, which took place in Whistler, BC, Canada. The drink was inspired by the fall season in Canada and the USA.

The Original Recipe:

  • 1 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz Apple Juice
  • 0.25 oz Maple Syrup
  • 2–3 generous dashes aromatic bitters (e.g., Angostura)

Shake, strain into glass. Gently squeeze orange peel over glass to release oils, drop peel into glass, serve.

For the Mocktail version:

Omit whiskey, double the bitters (4 dashes), and add splash of ginger ale.

The Final Product

Autumn-Mattician Recipe

The recipe had to be tailored a bit to fit the needs of the caterer for bulk consumption, but the final product was heavily inspired by my recipe. It came out a bit sweet for my tastes, but it was received really well. I still prefer my original recipe, though. 😉
