One of the most memorable meals we had in NYC a few weeks ago was at 2nd Ave. Deli (although it’s now located on E. 33rd St.).
This is the 3-Decker Sandwich… with Hot Pastrami, Corned Beef, Wide Salami, Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing.
When it shows up on the table, the sandwich ellicits a wide-eyed reaction. After the initial shock, we pondered our eating strategy and begin to dig in. Take a bite off the top half, then take a bite off the bottom half. Repeat. It was surprisingly easy to eat; it never fell apart or became a sloppy mess all over our hands… a perfect monolith of meat.
We still dream of this meal, and this goes down in our personal history of best sandwich ever. Would do business with again. A++++.
